Flowers… chocolates… blah blah blah. Those can be great gifts any time of the year, but on Valentine’s Day, show your feminism! If you care about body image, LGBTQIA+ rights, social and racial justice, and a new version of masculinity, you’ll love these gifts.
Plus, let Valentine’s Day be an act of SELF-love, too. Show yourself some love by treating yourself to one of these feminist-inspired valentine’s gifts.
We have feminist Valentine’s Day gifts for children AND adults. From heart leggings to body positive art, there’s something in here for everyone.

Heart leggings
So pleased that Primary.com shows their heart leggings on children of all genders. Boys can love, be loved, and show love, too! Yet we seem terrified to dress boys in hearts. We seem to think, as a culture, that love is girly.
And the thing is, hearts for boys are usually not even an option! The gender stereotypes in children’s clothes seem to be getting better and worse at the same time. Show us how sweet and lovable your child is in these heart leggings.
Inspirational Posters for Kids
Sometimes a little encouragement is what we really need. This “We Can Do Hard Things” block letter poster will inspire a growth mindset in your child’s bedroom or playroom. I would even put this in my office!
This poster is designed by Homegrown Studios, a local studio in our town that engages babies to pre-teens in process art, creation, and exploration. Owner Meredith approaches art, play, and learning with an anti-bias lens, and it shows.
Rad Girl Revolution Book
When your child starts chanting “Rise Above Doubt! Reach Any Dream!” at the end of the book, it doesn’t get any better. Rad Girl Revolution, written by Jennifer Elliott Bruno and Sharita Manickam, shows real girls doing real things – professions like judge, architect, astronaut, and even rock star. (Check out my interview with Jen and Sharita here.)
The photographs put this book in a class of its own, as my daughter loves seeing girls who look like her and her friends in these exciting jobs. As we know, boys desperately need female role models, too, so this book is for everyone!
Science-inspired Valentines
When my child was in day care, the teacher told us the night before that we were “welcome to bring Valentines” for the whole class the next day. What? I thought, isn’t that only for real school? My kid is only three. But no. I had to figure something out, and quickly.
If you’re ever in that last minute-situation, or a run-of-the-mill procrastinator, printable valentines are the answer. Flip the Script Studios is my favorite Etsy shop for nursery and bedroom art that supports girls to embrace a wide range of interests beyond stereotypes, including science, dinosaurs, and sports.
Plus, owner Jen features cute puns on these printable Valentines. Who doesn’t love a little word play?

Shatter Gender Stereotypes Poster
This poster teaches kids that there’s no such thing as “boy toys” or “girl stuff.” Shatter those gender stereotypes nice and early with this simple to understand poster by Elise Gravel, entitled “Everyone Can Like.”
Elise has so many powerful drawings on their website. This one is free to download for any personal or classroom use – making it the perfect poster to hang in a playroom, kitchen, preschool, or classroom!
Feminist Valentine’s Gifts for Adults:
Kind Cotton Pride tee
Kind Cotton is my new favorite small shop! With every purchase, they donate a book to a child. What an admirable mission! Plus, they know that social justice is about more than just being “nice.” Kindness + inclusivity + compassion will get us closer.
So far, they’ve donated over 95,000 books to children. Even better, when some states in the U.S. began to pass harsh laws eliminating LGBTQ+ discussions or books in the classroom, they created this Pride Line that I’m wearing above.
Feminist Print: Fat Positive Art
Fat Mystic is a shop on Etsy with the slogan “Body liberation for all.” Three cheers to that!
Our children see so many images of thin, young white able-bodied depictions of people in the media. Come to think of it, so do we adults! Hanging fat positive art in your home is a small but simple way to encourage body acceptance. And when it’s this beautiful and colorful, why wouldn’t you?
Relaxing Spa Set
If you need a little breather, and some relaxation, this 3 piece spa candle set is just the thing. From Black-owned shop Kindred Essence, it includes a soy candle, soap, and soap dish.
Choose the scent you love most and this would be a beautiful act of self-love this winter.
For the Feminist Guys
For the man in your life, give him “Man Enough” by Justin Baldoni. Justin, who also hosts the Man Enough podcast, digs into masculinity messages he received as a boy and a young man and isn’t afraid to be messy or a work in progress. From body image and sex to how to become a good dad and committed partner – men will appreciate the honesty here.
Heart Earrings
Perfect for bold jewelry lovers and teachers anywhere 🙂 Sometimes you need to make a strong statement and these lightweight resin earrings fit the bill.
Sahara’s Essentials is a Black-owned Etsy shop that operates out of New York and has really fun, handmade statement earrings.
Heart Talk by Cleo Wade
If you follow Cleo Wade’s poetry and inspirational quotes on Instagram like me, you will probably love Heart Talk. I bought this for a friend and then kicked myself for forgetting to buy myself one!
This book has over 100 of her original poems, affirmations, and mantras. Her newest book, Where to Begin, focusing on your own power to create change in the world, also looks inspiring.
Feminist Tote
There are too many swoon-worthy feminist items at The Feminist Shop to choose from. Plus, their owner Virginia Mendez-Meson is a total kickass feminist. How can I possibly pick?
Okay fine. Let’s start with this tote. I love the rainbow words hiding in plain sight in the “F.” It’s sort of bold and subtle at the same time, no?
Find it here. (And use code THINKORBLUE for 10% – woohoo!)
Love Your Body with The Eating Instinct
Okay, I haven’t actually read this yet, but it’s on my wish list (are you listening, honey?) I’m confident it’s fabulous, though, because I’m a super-fan of author Virginia Sole-Smith’s podcast, Comfort Food, as well has her New York Times parenting articles. Sole-Smith moves us beyond myths of fads like clean eating and fasting, to think about what is authentic to ourselves and our children.
One of the most non-judgey moms out there, you’ll be waiting in line behind me to get coffee with her.
Hope you enjoyed these feminist Valentine’s Day gifts for your favorite people.
